Privacy policy

LELUE respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit lelue.co.za, shop with us or contact us, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who we are

LELUE sells faith-inspired 925 sterling silver jewellery in South Africa, online at lelue.co.za. LELUE is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach our Information Officer at mel@lelue.co.za or on 071 684 1298.

What we collect

When you order: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, and the details of your order.
When you contact us: the name, email address and phone number you give us, and your message, whether you use our contact form, email, WhatsApp or Facebook.
If you have an account: your login details and your order history.
When you browse: the cookies described below, and basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, which our website host keeps in its server logs.
Payments: we never see or store your full card details. Payments are handled by our payment provider under its own privacy policy.

Why we use it

To process and deliver your order, and to send you updates about it.
To answer your questions and messages.
To run our website safely, and to prevent fraud and spam.
To meet our legal duties, such as keeping tax and accounting records.

We use your information because we need it to fulfil your order, because you have given us permission, because the law requires it, or because it is reasonably needed to run our shop. We don't sell your information, and we only send you marketing messages if you have asked to receive them. You can ask us to stop at any time.

We share only what is needed, with:

The courier who delivers your order (your name, address and phone number).
Our payment provider, to take your payment.
Our website host and the service providers who keep our website and email running.
The authorities, if the law requires it.

If you message us on WhatsApp or Facebook, those services handle your messages under their own privacy policies.

Information outside South Africa

Some services we use may store information outside South Africa: Google, which supplies the fonts and a map tool our website loads (and so receives your IP address), and WhatsApp and Facebook if you contact us there. We only use services that protect personal information to a standard similar to POPIA.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser keeps for our website. We use only these:

Your bag (woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_…): remember the pieces in your bag.
Stock location (wcmlim_selected_location…): remember that your pieces come from our online store's stock.
Order source (sbjs_…): note how you reached our website, for example from a search or a shared link, so that we can see which pages lead to orders.
Visit count (breakdance_…): count your visits and pages, which our website builder uses to decide what to show.
Signing in (wordpress_…): keep you signed in to your account.
Session (PHPSESSID): a temporary code our server uses while you browse, removed when you close your browser.

We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can clear or block cookies in your browser's settings, but your bag may then stop working.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting (usually five years). We keep messages for as long as we need them to help you. Server logs are kept for a short time only. After that, we delete your information or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

Our website uses an encrypted connection (https), and only the people who need your information to serve you can see it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable care to keep your information safe, and we will tell you and the Information Regulator if it is ever compromised.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us:

What personal information we hold about you.
To correct it, or to delete it where we no longer need it.
To stop using it, or to withdraw your permission.
To stop sending you marketing messages.

Email mel@lelue.co.za and we will reply as soon as we can. We may need to confirm who you are first. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us so we can put it right. You may also complain to South Africa's Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

Children

Our shop is for adults. Pieces for children are bought by an adult, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
